UI Mtn Bike Race This Weekend!

What better way to celebrate the start of  a new school year than with a mountain bike race!

That’s right – this Sunday, August 29th, the University of Iowa is conducting a collegiate mountain bike race as part of the Sugarbottom Scramble. For those of you who don’t know, the mountain bike trails at Sugarbottom have been rated as being in the top 50 of the country by Outside magazine.

Race details are available on the flyer.

Information about the trails at Sugarbottom can be found on the ICORR web site.

Mtn and Cross Season

We’ve had some preliminary interest from some schools in wanting to put on some events this fall – some mountain bike, some cyclocross, some both. And it’s not too late to start planning an event.

If you’d like to host an event – either as a stand-alone collegiate event or in combination with another event – please contact me and I can help begin the process.

Conference Director Summit held at USAC

USA Cycling held it’s annual Collegiate Cycling Conference Director Summit on August 21-22 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. The summit was a great opportunity to meet with other conference directors and learn more about what is working well (and what isn’t) in the other collegiate conferences.

As the NC conference director, I came away with a lot of great ideas that I’ll be sharing with you over the course of the year. To say that this summit was a perfect kick-off to a new school year would be an understatement, and I’m looking forward to an exciting year!
