For those of you who’ve qualified, are interested, and available to race at Cross Nationals, the following checklist may help you get ready for the upcoming event.

Step 1 – Qualify

If you’re a Cat A in Cyclocross, then you have at least met the first set of criteria. If you’re not a Cat A, contact us to discuss your situation and we will determine whether an upgrade can be processed or not.

Step 2 – Notify Us

If/Once you’ve qualified, you’ll need to notify either myself or Megan to confirm your willingness and ability to attend Cross Nats. The reason for this is that we need to approve your qualifying status within the USAC world before you can actually race…maybe even before you can register (not sure on this one, so I’ve put this as step 2).

Step 3 – Register

Registration for Cross Nats is handled online at USAC’s site here.

Step 4 – Complete the Eligibility Form

Every school sending a rider to Cross Nats is REQUIRED to fill out an eligibility form. You CANNOT race without it. Grab a copy of the form here and have your registrar complete it.

Step 5 – Train (optional)

Cross Nats is fast approaching, with the Collegiate races scheduled for January 12-13, 2013. That gives you one month from today to get into race shape. Or not. Your choice. But I imagine the rider who crosses the line with their arms raised isn’t going to be the one who sits around for the next month sipping egg nog and eating candy canes. Consider yourself warned. :)

Step 6 – Get to Madison and Have FUN

This sort of goes without saying, don’t you think?

Good luck! And see you there!

Olson had come out of the Red Hawks Romp event with an enormous amount of momentum with wins in both the Cross Country and Short Track Cross Country events. And the Scramble would be no different, with Olson winning once again – this time taking home not only the conference championship title, but also taking the D1 Women’s Individual Omnium title as well.

Not to be outdone, Andrew Sullivan (UMTC) joined Olson on the podium with a win in the Sugar Bottom Scramble’s Collegiate A/B Men race. “The race was such a blast and the trails were excellent!” commented Sullivan. “We had made the trip down for the original date [August 26th], but with the rain-out all we could do is sort of look at the trails without riding. This was well worth the trip back down!” The win at Sugar Buttom also gave Sullivan bragging rights as this year’s D1 Men’s Individual Omnium champion.

With their combined successes, Olson and Sullivan propelled UMTC into the D1 Team Omnium champion spot as well, which was presented by NCCCC Conference Director Mark Guthart.

The NCCCC will be holding a conference meeting this weekend in conjunction with the Conference Championships at the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities.

The meeting is at 6:30 pm in the back room of the Republic (www.republicmn.com).

Everyone is invited and welcome to attend for dinner, the conference meeting, and awards. (Even if you don’t want to stay for dinner, please come, hang out, and have some fun!)

As a special treat, we will have Jeffrey Hansen, the High School and Collegiate Program Manager for USA Cycling in attendance, so it’s a great opportunity to show him first-hand why the NC is the best conference around.

At the meeting, we’ll cover the following topics, but will also open the discussion to any new topics as well. So bring your ideas and suggestions!

Meeting Topics

Road Season Review and Awards

Track Season Planning

Mountain Bike Season Planning

Cross Season Planning

Club Elections for next year

2013 Road Season Event Bidding

Conference Membership

Budget discussion

Hope to see you all there!
